Soothing Voice

Most every night as we're laying down to go to sleep is when our little chickadee decides its time to wake up. Some nights she's not too bad, but most of the time she acts like a little tempest, giving my insides quite the thrashing. Needless to say it's rather hard to fall asleep when I've got a little person tap dancing around inside. I've tried all sorts of things to try and calm her down, changing positions, getting up and walking around, going to the bathroom, getting a drink, talking to her, rubbing my stomach...nothing worked.

Until one night when I was fed up with it and Alan was being kept awake by my constant rolling around, he decided it was time for a little heart to heart. He crawled under the covers, laid his head on my tummy and very sweetly explained to our daughter that this was bedtime and that it was time to sleep and that we all needed to get some sleep and she needed to start learning now that at nighttime we sleep, and on and on. For the first time ever she settled down and I was able to fall asleep. Now every night when she starts up her little tantrum, all it takes is a little conversation from Alan and she lets me sleep.

The Little Engine That Could

It just keeps going and going and going... That is one resilient little car. We had a bit of a scare this week thinking it was finally giving up the ghost. It was having problems starting (but not the same problem that everyone else was having) and we thought it might have kicked the bucket. Still having faith in our little car, we took it to the mechanic to get it diagnosed, preparing ourselves that the cost to fix it would be more expensive than what the car is worth (which isn't much at this point). But lo and behold, the problem was only one itty-bitty little wire that connected the air temperature sensor to the engine. It was such a simple fix that they wouldn't even charge us for the parts. Such a good little car...

In other news... Cousin Kaytie had her baby shower this weekend! Here's a picture of the two of us for mom. She is just a week ahead of me, so its kinda a race to see who can pop their kid out first. :) It was nice to hang out with Beth and Tricia too. I'd forgotten how much fun the May kids are.

9 More weeks to go...

30 Weeks

Getting bigger and bigger everyday. I have doctor appointments every two weeks now, so we'll get an update on her progress on Friday. Things are starting to get pretty...uncomfortable. Sleep is harder to come by. My hip muscles and joints are streching out, and thats always an interesting experience. Only 7 more weeks til I can start wishing she comes out in ernest (after 37 weeks she's counted as a full term birth and not premature). Here's another picture for mom. :)
