Gotta love him

Alan just sent this to me from work. I think it sums us up pretty well. Original link here.

Yard Work

According to our neighbors, our yard hasn't been touch (sans mowing the lawn) in at least a few growing seasons. As a result, it is kind of a jungle back there. We go out almost everyday and try to fight it a little more. It is slow work, but progress is getting made. The girls love to go out a dig with us. I have finally designated them with "dirty clothes" because I was tired of doing their laundry so often. Alan and I are sore from all the weed pulling, but we're getting stronger and it feels good.

(No, she did not just take a bite of dirt, she is just making a funny face)

Birthday present to myself

P.S. Don't be fooled by my less than enthusiastic smiles. I really love my new hair cut, it was just late when I got home from the salon.

New toy for the back yard

We found a nice trampoline on Craigslist the other day in the free section. We were the first ones to snatch it up and bring it home (thanks to some friends with a van (thanks again David!)). Alan and I set it up last weekend and the girls have really enjoyed it. Not so much together, since Alice just falls down and ends up bouncing on her face while Elsie jumps, but they love to take turns on it.

Happy Birthday to me

I had a simple birthday this year. I made my typical Chocolate Junior Mint cake, we went out to dinner to a yummy mexican place, and Alan fed my growing obsession by getting me my own copy of the Hunger Games trilogy.
I guess I didn't get a picture of me on my birthday, but I do have pictures of my birthday present to myself. Those will be coming up in a later post. For now, here's Alice having a serious moment while eating cake.

We moved... again

We moved for the ninth time in our 4+ year marriage. Luckily, this time it was to a house just a half a mile away. I really hate moving, but I'm really glad we made this move. We love it in our new house. There is lots of room, a big yard, and no one can hear how loud my kids are. I also love that we will be renting it for at least three years, so we will finally be in one place for a while...

There was a lot of packing...
And cleaning...
Before we finally said goodbye to our old apartment.
 Home sweet home!
Alice was a little unsure about the new house at first. She was very clingy, very nervous, and the internet guy really freaked her out. But once we got her crib set up and pulled out a few toys, she figured out that we were going to be here for a while and warmed right up to the place.
We have had to do a lot of unpacking...
But we are finally feeling settled in.

Easter Revisited

We are finally completely out of our old apartment and are settling into our new house. I guess that means that it is time for me to start posting on the ol' blog again.

Easter was a fun day. The girls had new Easter dresses to wear to church thanks to Grandma DeeDee taking them shopping for dresses while she was here. I even had time to do their hair all fancy before church. Here is Alice with a little tiny french braid in her hair.
This was the best picture we could get of the girls together before heading off to church.

The Easter bunny paid a visit to our house while the girls were napping. They woke up to find baskets filled with goodies on the table and eggs hidden all around the apartment.
Even Alice got into the hunt. Elsie showed her what to do and she caught on very quickly.

There were lots of toys and goodies to go around once they dove into their baskets. A few of the toys got lost in the shuffle of the move and have been delightfully rediscovered by the girls.

And, of course, there was plenty of candy.
