Happy Trees

We don't make mistakes. We just have happy accidents.

Words to live by. Thank you, Bob Ross.

Narration from the Splash Pad

"There is water everywhere!"

"It's splashing me all over!"

"This is still a little too scary. I need to hang out with Mom a little longer..."

"I love it!"

"This is the greatest place ever!"

"Where did the water go?"

"Eeee! It's coming back!!"

"The water stopped. Maybe I can get closer now..."

*Water clicks back on*

"Run away!!"

"It dumped on my head. It was awesome."

"The boy is going to spray me!"

"Woohoo!"

"Playing in the puddles isn't too bad..."

"...Until the water sneaks up on you from behind!"

"Hahaha, take that water!"

"I will now stomp on you"

*Stomp, stomp, stomp*

"Not again!"

"I don't think I like this place..."

"The water turned off. Maybe I can walk into the middle now..."

"Uh-oh"

*Pure terror*

"Don't worry Alice, I will rescue you"

"Get me out of here!!" "This way Alice"

"Let's go to Mommy. She's over there, Alice"

"Yeah, that water had nothing on me. But... I think I'll hang out here just to be safe."

I never thought I would hear my husband say:

"Stop licking your walls and go to sleep!"

Epicnic

Saturday was the annual Epic company picnic. The first thing we hit up was the food: steak, corn on the cob, salad, cornbread, watermelon, root beer floats, and hot dogs and chips for the kids.

Alice was in love with the petting zoo. All those animals and she could touch them all.

She tried to feed the goat a little piece of sawdust she picked up, but he didn't go for it.

I think the baby kitty was the biggest hit of all.
Next, they had to climb through all of the construction vehicles.

Elsie loved the bubbles at the kid's tent.
We went for a walk around campus following a GPS treasure hunt. Alice was pretty wasted by this point, so she opted to ride instead of walk.
We caught up with the Ice Cream guys (two guys riding around on a bike with a freezer) and picked up a few popsicles.

Elsie wanted to go on one of the big bouncy houses before we left. She went through this obstacle course a good half a dozen times.

Our medals for completing the treasure hunt. There are so many things to do at the picnic I feel like we barely scratched the surface.  We still didn't go on the wagon rides or do a lot of the big activities they brought in (trampolines with bungys, climbing walls, mechanical bulls and surf boards, more bounce houses, and a lot of arcade type games), but we still had a fun time. It is hard to do it all in just four hours!

The last few weeks (from my phone)

We got almost a full bushel of fresh Georgia peaches from a company that boxes them up from the farm and drives them to Wisconsin the next day. They were amazing and we canned 12 quarts of them.
We hung out at Alan's work waiting for him to finish up some emails before taking him home.

Alan built the girls their own computer from spare parts he had laying around. Leave it to Alan to have enough "spare parts" to build a second computer. There are just a few games on it right now, but they enjoy it, and I really enjoy it when it is the end of the day and I'm trying to get dinner ready and they are driving me crazy ...
We bought a upright freezer. We were going to keep it in the garage, but then we measured this closet in the laundry room and it was like it was built to hold a freezer.
Playing in boxes.

Out for walks.
Sharing a smoothie.
Playing in the sprinkler.
Walking down the hall to find Alan at work.
More playing in Alan's office.
And finally, Alice being cute at library story time.
