The Flower

The real story of how Alice found a teeny tiny fake flower is we were walking out of the fabric store and she found it by the door. Later, when she was asked how she got her flower, this is what she said:

How did you get your flower? - Once upon a time it was in the dirt and water and growing and then it was going to open up so big and beautiful then a whale gave it to me. Then the whale danced with me. The whale got my crown for me and put it high on my bed on my computer desk. Then it throw it and breaks it.

How did you get your flower? - Don't tell me!

How did you get your flower? - Someone was in our house, looking looking, E-I-E-I-O.

How did you get your flower? - Well, my flower got from the beach. It was hiding in the sand and the water. The flower was stuck with Clark in jail. We were in the jail too with all of us. We were visiting someone else in the jail and the flower was there at the farm. We was all looking out the window.

How did you get your flower? - The flower was with Alice hiding somewhere. It was in Zoe and Elmo's tummy with Cookie Monster and Big Bird. They were the honeys, and the mom, and the dad. The daddy is in his bedroom. I just found three spinning things. But I can't reach them. And they found four right here.

Alice's Quilt

I thought I would be done trying to quilt for a while after Clark's massive blanket, but then I got some sewing supplies for Christmas and the next thing I knew I was starting another one. This one I actually followed a pattern for instead of just making it up myself, and it came together a lot easier. I machine quilted it myself, and I spent about a week on the couch wrapped up in it while I hand sewed the binding on. I'm pretty proud of it, and even though she was being grumpy for the pictures, Alice is very excited about her new blanket.

I guess I need to make a quilt for Elsie now...

Three Months

Clark turned three months old yesterday. I weighed him and he is about 16.8 lbs. I'm still trying to get used to a kid that gains weight, and my arms are getting stronger because of it. He is generally a pretty calm and happy boy. He likes to watch his sisters run around and loves it when they sing to him. He is somewhat of a sympathetic crier; when someone else around him is sad he tends to get a little sad too. He rolled from his back to his front for the first time and then was pretty mad that he was stuck on his stomach. He has done it a few times since, but mostly just rolls to his side and whines when he's tired. He is starting to grab and reach for things and has started playing with burp rags and his taggie. He is very tall and solidly in 3-6 month clothing. I could barely snap the 3 month onesie on him for his sizing picture. We love our little boy and are so happy he is a part of our family!

Car seat swaddle blanket

It's cold in Wisconsin, and it's hard to take my baby out with all the layers that have to go on him. I found this tutorial a long time ago and pinned it to my secret board since no one knew I was pregnant yet. I looked through my pins and found it again, and decided to make it. The littles and I ran to the fabric store one morning to pick out supplies, and then while they napped Elsie and I put it together. True to the tutorial, it took me less than a nap time to make it. And now the most adorable little boy I've ever made can be snugly and warm in the car without carting around a million little blankets.
