Guess What Chicken Butt

In my first trimester with this last pregnancy, I had a really hard time with chicken. Eating it, cooking it, even looking at it. I've gotten over a lot of it now, but I still really don't like cooking chicken. So, I decided to just buy a whole chicken so I could cook it all at once and then have left over cooked chicken to use in other meals. What I didn't realize is how gross or how freaked out I would get over having to deal with a giant dead chicken carcass....yuck.

But I did it!!

It actually turned out pretty tasty. I used a very simple recipe, and it came out nice a juicy. There is a lot of meat left over (I made Alan de-bone the chicken...to gross for me), and I've already made enchiladas that are sitting in the fridge waiting to be baked for dinner tonight. Good stuff.

And just cause no blog post would be complete without it, here's a cute picture of Elsie. This is the outfit her daddy dressed her in today. Gotta love it. :)

Happy Memorial Day!

We have a thumb sucker

We always thought Elsie would be a finger sucker. Ever since we brought her home from the hospital she wasn't happy sleeping unless she had her hands by her face. She's been sucking on her fists for a while, but she has finally figured out how to find her thumb. She figured it out a few days ago, and has just been get better at it. As you can see, though, she is still not too sure what to do with her other fingers. As of right now, they just get smashed up against her face and make it so she snorts when she breaths.

Dancing With Daddy

Elsie has been holding her head up a lot more. Since acquiring this new found talent, Alan has taken time out to start dancing lessons.

One Month

Here is Elsie's one month sizing shot. I finally figured out how to make a slide show work in my post, so the rest of the photo shot is on that. She is getting so big! She is getting really good at holding her head up and she has started smiling at us(on purpose, not just gas). Her favorite activities are still eating, sleeping, pooing, and swinging in her swing. She loves getting her hair washed and brushed, but is still not so sure about the rest of the bathing process. She's been sleeping really well at night. We put her down in the evening, and she's up one around 3:30ish, eats, falls back asleep, and then wakes up again around 7 to eat again. We've started to settle into a nice little routine. :)

Alan's interpretation

Elsie has been getting good at grabbing and holding on to things, so when Alan was playing with her last night, I suggested he get some toys and start teaching her how to play with them. This is what he came up with.

My baby's hair is getting long

Here she is fresh from a bath and in her jammies getting ready for bed. Her hair is almost to the point where it is too long to do the faux hawk look...

Not All Daddy's Girl...

Just mostly :)

I've gotten a lot of comments from people saying how much Elsie looks like Alan. Now, there's nothing wrong with that, I happen to think that Alan is cute too. But just to prove that there is a little of me in there, my mom pulled out some of my old baby pictures. See if you can see some similarities...
