It's official. Elsie is allergic to peanuts. We took her to an allergist this morning to have the scratch test done. She didn't like it very much, but then who would like being poked in the back 10 times? She was tough and made it through alright. This picture was taken about half way through the test, and you can see that she was reacting a lot. The red bump on the left was the control, and the one on the right was the peanuts.
Lucky us, we get to carry around one of these handy dandy little life-saver devices. Elsie now has an EpiPen Jr that gets to go where she goes. We don't know what kind of reaction she will have if she accidentally eats peanuts. The first time she ever reacted it was a rash and hives around her mouth and hands where the peanut butter had gotten on her skin. Those types of reactions should clear up with Benadryl and shouldn't be a problem. But on the off chance she could have trouble breathing or go into any sort of anaphylactic shock, it's better to be safe and have an EpiPen around.
