Did I really just do that?

I swore I would never do it. Then I had a kid of my own.

I made one of these for Elsie yesterday. She finished off the whole blender this morning. It took a few tries for her to really get into it, but once she got used to the flavor she kept asking for more "milkshake". I even got Alan to try a sip of it.

I'm not sure if I feel proud or ashamed...

I'm proud of you! See......kids like it and they get their vegetables, too. Ha ha ha ha! Yea. Elsie!

PS...Just think of it as a Smoothie, and it sounds very modern. :)

Notice that she only "got Alan to try a sip of it." Sarah refused to even try it and I thought that it tasted terrible... Poor Elsie didn't know any better...

You told me about the "milkshake" while I was there. YUCK!! Sounds awful and don't think I will be making it any time soon. Poor Elsie. I would rather just introduce real veggies to her. :)

Gross. I had to go back and read mom's post about the shakes and I'm pretty sure I was in my pre-teens when I found out...and that's because I started to not enjoy the shreddy texture.

I have nothing else to add, I am so lucky to have kids who eat a myriad of vegetables willingly :)

I admit I never tasted it myself! I was a desperate Mom, however, and since my kids all begged for it over and over, I continued making this "milkshake" through the years.

Until Elsie overcomes her issues with swallowing whole foods, Smoothies may be just what she needs to supplement her diet. You can make up your own blender recipes...which will probably become some of your own family history. :)
